English 3
As promised, you're looking at a piece by Tupac today to ease you in to transcendentalism in poetry. In your SpringBoard books, turn to activity 4.4. You will work through Tupac's poem and mark the text for tenets of transcendentalism. Once you've worked through that text as a whole class, Mr. Michaelis will assign some of you the 2nd poem in the activity and some of you the third poem in the activity. You will work in partnerships to identify tenets of transcendentalism in your assigned poem. After that, you will come together as a class to discuss your findings. Each student will respond to the following prompt: What adjustments in student behavior need to be made based on what was seen by yesterday's sub? How could the actions of the class have been better yesterday to show more respect to our guest teacher? Once you have finished a 10-15 minute timed write in response to this prompt (Mr. Michaelis will determine the final writing time duration) you will look at the next assessment we have coming up. Here is a sample of how the unpacking of the next assessment can be structured: Unpacking EA 3.1 Don't forget to keep reading Things Fall Apart; we have a quiz on Monday over chapters 1-5. Health When I get back tomorrow, we'll discuss some of the responses on the worksheets from yesterday and how to appropriately respond to assignment questions in the future. Today, though, you'll be looking more at self-esteem and some statistics that have been gathered concerning teenagers' levels of confidence. During the reflective writing portions of the period, the expectation is to work silently and respond in thorough, complete sentences to each prompt. Self-Esteem Notes
