I've been trying to shake bug all weekend but haven't been successful. All quiz retakes are moved to tomorrow. Be sure you treat the substitute with complete respect. I expect all students to participate in the assigned activities today.
English 3 You will be working with partners on more SAT preparations today. The focus of today will be the reading portion, though, not just the writing piece. Work through the first sections of text and discuss the first three questions with the substitute. After those questions, you will have the remainder of the period to finish the packet with your partner. Make sure both of your names are on the paper and turn it in before you leave so I can look over some of the work when I get back. English 3 Honors You will still be taking quiz #3 today over chapter 11-15 of our book. the link is provided here. Record your responses on a separate sheet of paper and turn then in to the teacher when you are finished. Go over the answers as a class. I have NOT given the sub the answers, but I want you all to discuss the correct answers. If there are disagreements about which answer is correct, you must look through the text to find support for your answers. After the quiz, follow the directions in this slideshow. All notes and tables are to be recorded in your notebooks. Health We will be taking notes on components of mental disorders today. I have provided the link to the notes here. Much of this information will be helpful when conducting research later this wee; this information will also be present on our quiz on Wednesday.

Happy Valentine's Day!
English 3 We took notes and definitions for six components of writing. After writing those notes, we went through the credos we wrote yesterday and strengthened our writing using some of these components. English 2 Honors We broke-off into small groups and looked at an Ibo proverb to figure out how to break it apart and understand the meaning. Once we finished that, we began looking at the characterizations of several relatives of Okonkwo. Health We got to watch another video to help us gain a deeper appreciation of the DECIDE process. English 3
We looked at the concepts of precepts and credos. We read through the sample credo on page 272. English 2 Honors Quiz day! We quizzed over chapters 1-5. After the quiz, we talked about proverbs and dissected some commonly-known proverbs. Health Quiz #1! today was all about recapping our understanding of information and then adding-on to the DECIDE process. English 3
As promised, you're looking at a piece by Tupac today to ease you in to transcendentalism in poetry. In your SpringBoard books, turn to activity 4.4. You will work through Tupac's poem and mark the text for tenets of transcendentalism. Once you've worked through that text as a whole class, Mr. Michaelis will assign some of you the 2nd poem in the activity and some of you the third poem in the activity. You will work in partnerships to identify tenets of transcendentalism in your assigned poem. After that, you will come together as a class to discuss your findings. Reminder: Your first quiz on Into the Wild is tomorrow!! Chapters 1-3 English 2 Honors You'll be looking at your next assessment shortly, but first, I would like a reflective piece of writing based on what I heard from Mrs. Fonteno and a couple of your classmates about the behavior expressed during yesterday's class period with a substitute. Each student will respond to the following prompt: What adjustments in student behavior need to be made based on what was seen by yesterday's sub? How could the actions of the class have been better yesterday to show more respect to our guest teacher? Once you have finished a 10-15 minute timed write in response to this prompt (Mr. Michaelis will determine the final writing time duration) you will look at the next assessment we have coming up. Here is a sample of how the unpacking of the next assessment can be structured: Unpacking EA 3.1 Don't forget to keep reading Things Fall Apart; we have a quiz on Monday over chapters 1-5. Health When I get back tomorrow, we'll discuss some of the responses on the worksheets from yesterday and how to appropriately respond to assignment questions in the future. Today, though, you'll be looking more at self-esteem and some statistics that have been gathered concerning teenagers' levels of confidence. During the reflective writing portions of the period, the expectation is to work silently and respond in thorough, complete sentences to each prompt. Self-Esteem Notes English 3
