Each class will meet twice between Monday and Wednesday. Below is the finals schedule for all three days. Please note which class periods your lunches are based off of and prepare accordingly.
Buildings 1, 2, 3, and 4 have first lunch. Buildings 5, 6, 7, and auto have second lunch. English 3 During our one-hour meeting time, we will be studying for other classes, working on our essays, and/or completing an evaluation on me! English 2 Honors We will complete our short stories during our finals period on Monday and share them during the one-hour period on Wednesday. Health We are planning on presenting our final projects during our Monday one-hour class period and will analyze components of healthy and unhealthy relationships in familiar stories during our finals period on Tuesday.

English 3
We went over different ways to introduce our thinking throughout the essay. There are sentence outlines and suggestions HERE, but they do not need to be used if you don't want to do so. English 2 Honors Students had the entirety of the period to write and develop their short stories. Health Students had some time to work on their projects, but there was time specifically set-aside for practicing the presentation of their projects. English 3
At the start of class, we looked at a sample of my writing to identify the different aspects of a strong, clear, thorough body paragraph in a literary analysis essay. The document has the third body paragraph from my rough draft as well as labels as to what is covered in each sentence of that paragraph. Click HERE to view that document. After looking at this document and talking about different possible organizations for the information, students were given class time to prepare for their essay or other finals. English 2 Honors Students have the entirety of the period to write and develop their short stories. Health Today is the final day that the entire period is set-aside for our final projects. Students will still have some time to work on their projects tomorrow, but there will also be time specifically for practicing the presentation of their projects. English 3
Students were provided with an essay outlining document intended to help organize their thinking, but the document is not required for the process. We discussed the structure and outline of the essay and selected the prompts we will be writing toward. Click HERE for that document. English 2 Honors Students created an outline and identified different components of their selected genre that will appear in their original short stories. After getting their form signed-off by me, they were to get a computer and begin typing their story. Health Students were provided the period to work on their final project. English 3
We finished the book! After completing chapter 19, we read through all of chapter 20. After completing the book, we took the last reading quiz and scored them in-class. English 2 Honors Romance Round Robin Writing! We all added bits and pieces to each others' stories as we wrote chunks of a story. Health It's all about healthy relationships! We took some notes and discussed how important open communication is. English 3
Each period ended at slightly different places in chapter 19, but we will finish the entire book tomorrow. English 2 Honors We read through the final genre! It was a very short story, so we were able to outline the plot AND look at the required components for a romance story. Health Students were shown several strong examples of final projects. After viewing multiple samples, students had an opportunity to begin organizing and outlining their projects. English 3
We read as much of chapter 18 as possible. Each period left-off at different points. Period 1: We have about seven more minutes on the chapter's audiobook. The fire drill crept into our reading time today. Period 2: We finished the chapter. Period 3: We have about four minutes remaining in the chapter. English 2 Honors We broke-down and looked at the different plot components of "Caterpillar." Since this story has more conceptualized plot points and not concrete, I wanted to make sure we looked at each of the pieces and really understood them. We then identified the required fantasy components in the story. Finally, each student was to write a character sketch for an unrealistic, fictional, non-human character that could potentially be used in an original short story next week. Health We quickly wrapped-up the portion of the unit on STIs. Following the wrap-up. we went over the topic and basic outlines of the final project. Students then broke into groups, partnerships, or isolation to consider and brainstorm ideas for their final project. English 3

Periods 1 and 2 took the quiz today. Period 3 went through chapter 16 since we took the quiz yesterday instead. After our respective tasks, we looked at the symbolism of both the pear tree and horizon throughout the text. Discussion groups had a five-minute spring conversation to discuss how and where each symbol is represented in the text. English 2 Honors We looked at the plot components of the horror story as well as the genre specific components. After dissecting the story, we took ten minutes to create a horror story of our own using one of the following two images as the setting. EERIE POND CALM POND Health Such great conversation! We finished-up the STI notes and there were a lot of great questions. We started looking at different scenarios that have a range of risk possibilities. We will finish that activity tomorrow and discuss why different activities have specific levels of risk. English 3
Periods 1 and 2 opted to postpone the quiz one day since many students were testing. We read chapters 15 and 16, then we quickly looked at an organizational method for structuring our essays. English 2 Honors THE HORROR!! Well, kind of. We started looking at "The Monkey Paw" for the horror genre. We read through the first two parts of the story and identified unknown words. We broke-down the plot aspects of the first part of the text, read the second part, and the third part was assigned as homework. Health More notes! We began looking at some of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs). There are notes on seven different STIs. We covered the transmission, symptoms, and treatment possibilities for each STI. |
