This guided note sheet helped us understand the what, why, and how of annotated bibliographies. We will use this style of bibliographies in our research project this week and next. English 2 Honors We recapped yesterday's tasks and dove-in to the concept of character sketches and SOAPSTones. I performed a monologue for you and the class worked through identifying the following concepts represented in the small piece: Subject, Occasion, Audience, Purpose, Setting, Tone. I performed the monologue twice so you could get a clearer understanding of what was taking place in the scene and how we could learn about the character. We then set-out to create our own monologues; you were to write about a character (fiction or non-fiction) that either expressed clear characterization or some aspect of justice; some of you tried to work both in! We will be getting in partnerships tomorrow to perform each other's writing! Health Today was quiz day! We had our final quiz over the nutrition unit and corrected the front of the page (prompts 1-10 out of 15 points). Remember: Tomorrow and Thursday, we will meet in the upper gym for first aide training!

Today you will get exposure to several significant leaders and contributors to the Harlem Renaissance. You will work with your group to identify who your top three figures would be that you have interest in researching. Some groups have already identified who they will research, but I want those groups to still go through the process to see if anyone else may interest them. Groups will then complete the organizer provided for you to let me know who you would most like to research and why. These MUST be turned-in by the end of the period. English 2 Honors Today you'll be looking at an excerpt from Romeo and Juliet to walk through the steps of building a character sketch as well as think about how justice is represented in drama. You'll use the Springboard books from the back table. If no one volunteers to read, I have provided the sub with assignments for you. Follow the steps in the Springboard book and everything will make sense. Health You have a test tomorrow! No, I hadn't announced it yet. Yes, you will for sure be taking it. No, it won't be as funky to grade as the last one. You will receive a study guide today and will have the period to complete it. Everything on teh guide and test will be directly from our notes. Hey all!
I've been busy getting things set-up for our return to school; this process has gone much slower than I would have liked due to the fact that my cold is STILL lingering around. I've begun working through the essays you submitted, but I haven't gotten through all of them, yet. They should be at least mostly finished by Sunday. I type this from one of my classroom because I've been here at the school several times this week to get a little organized before things start-up for our long 7-week stretch without any 3-day weekends or anything. I'm so excited to see you all again on Monday! -Miss C |
