English 3 and English 2 Honors
We met in the library for the summer reading assignment! Students checked-out their required books for the level of English they're going into next year. We were then given some time to begin our summer book before leaving the library. Health We finished taking notes on different forms of pregnancy prevention . After our notes, I completed a condom application demonstration. I talked through each step and explained why each step was provided in the process.

After getting a report back from your experience with the sub, we discussed our thinking of Janie's actions at the end of chapter 13 as well as our opinions on her development. Additionally, we discussed and wrote about how Janie's development helps us understand her thinking about love and how it has changed as the text continues. Click HERE for the daily outline and prompt we completed in our notebooks. English 2 Honors We revisited the aspects of SciFi and talked about how each portion of "All Summer in a Day" fit into the plot. Health We took notes on about half of the pregnancy prevention methods that are available. We will continue this conversation and connect it to new pieces on Monday. I'm sorry for not making it to school today, everyone. My mom has been in the hospital since last weekend and I am working to get her transitioned back home. I'm okay, she's okay, but my family needs a bit of help with the process. As always, treat the substitute with the utmost respect and follow the directions here.
I'll see you all tomorrow. -Miss Clark English 3 Since the audiobook with the exact timing of where we left-off is not available when I'm gone, volunteers will be needed to read the remainder of chapter 13 out loud for the class. Whoever reads will be rewarded tomorrow when I get back. After chapter 13 is completed, work within your discussion groups to complete THIS handout. If the physical copy of the handout is not available, each student is responsible for recording their group's thinking and text evidence in their own notebooks. After about 20 minutes of work time on this, you will begin listening to chapter 14. Remember to record quotes that support the prompt options for our final essay. This is only a 12 minute audio chapter, so I'm hoping you are able to complete it today. English 2 Honors Today we start looking at our sample texts. Each student will independently read the first genre in the packet; "All Summer in a Day" is our sample story for the Science Fiction genre. Read through the story by yourself, then work through the handout that TA Alex hands out with your neighbor. You should be able to identify the initial conflict, climax, resolution, and denoument in the story. After you have been given time to work through this with your partner, share your thinking as a whole class. Who selected which plot points for each component? Why did you choose those? (The substitute has a copy of my document). Then work with your partner to identify all of the aspects of the story that fit the requirement for a science fiction story. The substitute also has a copy of this from Mrs. Fonteno. Health We will postpone the completion of the proper steps of condom use until tomorrow. For today, you will have a major portion of the class period to respond to the following prompts. This will go in the gradebook as a formative assessment, and you WILL see these questions again on the final test. Today is structured as more of a "pre-test" so I can see where your thinking is about the remaining topics in the unit. Once you are finished, please get other school work to complete or confer with your classmates and make sure you are up-to-date on the notes we have taken. There aren't a lot yet, but they will start to play major roles in upcoming lessons. June 1st Health Prompts: Respond in complete and thorough sentences to the best of your ability.
