Simple task today; work on the conflict logs. We will be discussing the role that conflict plays in this play specifically next week. English 2 Honors You are continuing to look at the text "I Want a Wife." All of the prompts and directions are in the following slide and the substitute has all of the slides printed off. November 10 Analysis Questions Health My original plan fell through, so you will be working in SMALL groups to complete a handout. Some of you may get it done in no time at all, but others might struggle; this is because you do NOT get to use the notes we took this week. I'll explain further when I get back if there are any confusions or frustrations.

Today was all about script processes! We highlighted some of your classmates' work from yesterday's stage direction piece, then went on to analyze the components of scripts. Script Componenets English 2 Honors November 9 Health We finished-up our notes on eating disorders today. After the notes, there was a short reflective writing piece to consider how we would handle a friend approaching us with a concern about maybe having an eating disorder. How would re react if a friend came to us with these thoughts? What might we do to help them? November 9 Eating Disorders English 3
Since several students were testing today, we had a low-key activity dealing with different interpretations of a selected scene. We'll be using the interpretations from class in discussion tomorrow, so you won't be too lost when we get in to class tomorrow. English 2 Honors We dissected the "Please, people..." essay a little more today in terms of the impact that different types of language used. Once we finished that, we looked at analogies and how else we could think about racial bias/privilege. Following are the slides we looked at today with the directions for the journal work. November 8 Journal Work Health We began looking at eating disorders this afternoon. There were some conversations about things that are typically taboo, but we all handled things with great maturity. Here are the note slides. We will get to the final two slides tomorrow before looking at a different aspect of eating disorders. Eating Disorders Day 1 English 3
Quiz day! Upon completing the quiz over pages 1-25 of The Crucible, we completed our conversation on Friday's class-work that involved the allegorical representation of select characters. English 2 Honors We received a new essay today after reviewing and essay from last week. Below, you will find the new essay as well as the journal entries for today's lesson. Please, people, stop using bikes to whitesplain prejudice November 7 Journal Entries Health We did a couple of things today. I passed out a completed handout that looks similar to the packet we had last Wednesday and Thursday (hint: that's because it was copied straight from that packet). I already filled out the nutritional information about similar flavors of Wheat Thins and Triscuits. We compared the nutritional information and completed a few questions. After that, it was time for a quiz! Nothing much more, but I'll get you copies of things if you missed it. Quizzes will be made-up if you missed today's class. English 3
Jam-packed class! No, I did NOT have a quiz for us today; I'm too nice for that. We did, however, review the different purposes and aspects of stage directions to start-off the class. Once I was sure that we had a clear grasp of why these components are important, we dug right in to the activity for the day. Different segments of the class were assigned a character to discuss. The purpose of the decision was to think about the allegorical representation of McCarthyism and the Red Scare that these characters posed. Allegorical Representation Notes and Direction English 2 Honors Today was about looking further into the concept of racial bias/privilege. We revisited the text, "What my Bike has Taught Me about White Privilege", from Tuesday and dissected the analysis questions. I also took a list of your independent reading books for the quarter. Since you checked them out yesterday and had a chance to begin reading them, some of you have already begun you reading logs! 11/4 Outline Health We revisited the SPIES from the beginning of the semester and looked at our goals again. Since we're halfway through the semester, we looked at the progress we've made toward our goals and adjusted what we think might be reasonable for ourselves now knowing a little bit more about health. I collected the goals again and we will look at them again toward the end of the semester. I'm still out at a curriculum training. Mr. Kuzma is still here and gave me some awesome reports about yesterday! Keep up the great work, everyone! I'll see you tomorrow.
English 3 -Warm-up -Rising Action Activity -Read Act II through Page 25 November 3 Processes and Notes English 2 Honors New IRBs! Head to the library directly after Mr. Kuzma takes attendance. You need to return any books you have out already and check-out a new novel for you Independent Reading Book. After getting new books, you will have the remainder of the period to get started on your reading. If you get far enough to feel comfortable recording your thoughts, emotions, or connections for your first reading journal, go for it! I look forward to hearing all about your book choices when I get back tomorrow! Health There's a debrief set-up for period 5. Period 6 will finish the food label station activity, then hold the debrief conversation. Both classes should have some time to make sure that all work is turned-in. The quarter ends tomorrow, so make sure all materials are turned-in to be graded! I'm out at a training today, so Mr. Kuzma is here to fill-in for me. We've already got everything set-up, though, so you have plenty to do!
I'll be back on Friday, but I will also be in to the school after classes are done today to check-in on how things went. English 3 I know you'll hate it, but these notes will help SO MUCH when we get to planning our scripts in about two weeks. The notes are all about stage directions and movement. The key thing to take away from this is the impact that all of these script components have on helping the reader make some connections. Script Component Notes English 2 Honors We're continuing our analysis of the essay we got yesterday. You will continue to work with a partner to thoroughly respond to each of the three prompts, including ALL THREE components of prompt three. These responses should be recorded in your notebooks. Keep in mind, all of the journal entries we do are eligible to be used in our synthesis essay. Be sure to produce quality work and incorporate textual support for your responses. Essay Response Prompts Mr. Kuzma may take notes to report back on your thinking; he may also record any questions that you have so that I can address them when I get back on Friday. (I will be stopping by after school today, so I could respond to any questions in writing so you get clarification before I'm even back) Health Food station day!!! Mr. Kuzma will have all of the directions and worksheets to provide you. Essentially, you will be recording information from different stations of food labels and interpreting what the information on the label means. There will be different prompts and specific details to fill-in for each type of food/drink. There are no notes for today, just the handout that Mr. Kuzma will provide at the beginning of the period. We took a few notes down regarding some vocab terms that will help us understand different theatrical concepts. That PowerPoint is linked below. After these terms, we completed Act I and began to add to our character quality/trait charts. Vocab Slides English 2 Honors After recapping the information presented in the "Class Divided" video, students compared the video to the "Stanford Prison Experiment" video. Additionally, students received an essay focused on the concept of racial privilege with the intent to analyze it for the persuasive impact and allegory between racial privilege and riding a bike in Michigan. November 1 Notes Health We took notes on the requirements of food labels. This is in preparation of reading different food labels tomorrow and Thursday for a group station activity. Food Label Notes |
